MUMBAI - The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall over parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and south interior Karnataka till Saturday. An upper air cyclonic circulation over the southwest Bay of Bengal off south Andhra Pradesh at lower and middle tropospheric levels is likely to lead to heavy rains, it said.
Another upper air cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Assam at lower tropospheric levels, the weather agency said. A cyclonic circulation is an atmospheric wind flow at the upper levels associated with any low pressure system. In northwest India, and parts of central and eastern India, above normal temperatures are likely to continue for the next three-four days, the weather bureau said. No significant rainfall is likely over the remaining parts of the country next week.
The Delhi national capital region could experience smog or shallow fog or mist during the night and morning hours till Sunday, according to the bureau. Currently, the maximum temperature in Delhi is in the range of 33-36 degree Celsius, while the minimum temperature is 18-22 degree Celsius. These temperatures are 4-6 degrees Celsius above normal for the city, IMD said. End
