MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rainfall over parts of ghat areas of central Maharashtra till Saturday. The bureau expects similar weather conditions in Gujarat today and parts of Konkan and Goa today.

Very heavy rainfall is likely over some parts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh till Saturday, the weather bureau said. Konkan and Goa are also likely to receive very heavy rainfall on Saturday and Sunday and central Maharashtra on Sunday, it said. Very heavy showers are also likely in parts of Saurashtra and Kutch in Gujarat today and Sunday-Monday and over other parts of Gujarat Saturday-Monday, the bureau said.

The weather bureau also predicted very heavy rainfall over parts of east Rajasthan till Sunday and in Uttarakhand today, Saturday and Monday. Similar weather conditions are also very likely over interior Karnataka and coastal Karnataka till Saturday, it said.

Very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Jharkhand today, while in Odisha, similar weather conditions are expected today and on Tuesday.

The weather agency recorded extremely heavy falls in some places over the ghat areas of central Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa, and Uttarakhand in the past 24 hours and very heavy rainfall was recorded in parts of Tamil Nadu during the same time. End
