NEW DELHI – The Centre has released about 400 bln rupees to states under the special assistance scheme in the current financial year ending March so far, a senior official from the finance ministry told Informist.
The amount has been released under 'Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2023-24'. Under this scheme, which was announced in the Budget, special assistance is being provided to state governments in the form of 50-year interest-free loans up to an overall sum of 1.3 trln rupees in 2023-24 (Apr-Mar).
On Jul 31, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary told the Lok Sabha that an amount of 295 bln rupees was released to Assam, Bihar, Goa, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, and West Bengal.
Chaudhary had also said that the Centre approved capital expenditure proposals amounting to 849 bln rupees of 21 states under the special assistance scheme in the current financial year till Jul 31. End
