NEW DELHI - Prices of mill-quality wheat and maize remained unchanged today in Kota, Rajasthan and Davanagere in Karnataka, market players said.

Prices of mill-quality WHEAT remained steady today in Kota, Rajasthan on regular demand and supply, said Aniket Mehta, a local trader. Wheat was sold at 2,070-2,120 rupees per 100 kg and arrivals were pegged steady at 50,000 bags, Mehta said.

Prices of mill-quality wheat were unavailable in the wholesale markets of Indore in Madhya Pradesh.

The government has estimated wheat production in 2022-23 (Jul-Jun) at a record 112.7 mln tn, 4.2% above the output of 107.7 mln tn in the previous crop year.

The US Department of Agriculture has estimated global wheat production in 2023-24 at 789.8 mln tn, higher than the estimated 788.3 mln tn in 2022-23.

According to reports, India's ban on export of wheat and wheat products is likely to continue this year started April.

Prices of MAIZE were also unchanged in Davanagere, Karnataka as supply was sufficient to meet the demand, said Shiva Kumar, a local trader. Arrivals of the grain were pegged at 1,000 bags, up 200 bags from Thursday.

Maize prices were unavailable in key markets of Purnea, Bihar.
