NEW DELHI – The prices of wheat fell in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, post an export ban of wheat flour and related products, while the prices of maize and basmati 1121 rice were stable across key spot markets in the country, traders said.

* Prices of mill-quality WHEAT in Indore, fell today due to a subdued sentiment after India banned export of wheat flour, semolina and maida last week, a local trader N.K. Agarwal said.

* The government on Saturday prohibited export of wheat flour, maida, semolina, wholemeal atta and resultant atta with a view to curb rising prices.

* Export of these items would be allowed subject to permission of the government in certain cases, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a notification.

* Arrivals were pegged steady at 5,000 bags (1 bag = 50 kg), said a local trader N.K. Agarwal.

* On the other hand, prices of mill-quality wheat were flat in Kota, Rajasthan today. Arrivals were 18,000 bags, compared with 30,000 bags on Monday, said a local trader Aniket Mehta.

* The prices of MAIZE were flat in Purnea, Bihar today due to unchanged demand and supply. Arrivals were pegged steady at 18,750 bags (1 bag = 65 kg), a local dealer Kanhaiya Rastogi said.

* The prices of maize were also unchanged in Davanagere, Karnataka, and arrivals were steady at 1,000 bags, said a local trader Shiva Kumar.

* Prices of BASMATI 1121 RICE were stable today because of steady demand from bulk buyers, traders said.
