NEW DELHI – Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal pitched for greater partnership between Indian and Dutch economies due to their complementary strengths, and called for more industry-to-industry engagement to bolster the opportunities under the India-European Union free trade agreement. Bilateral engagement between Indian and Dutch industries under the FTA will lead to concrete business partnerships, investments, and stronger integration of supply chains between India and Europe, the commerce ministry said.
As part of his visit to the Netherlands, Goyal held a series of high-level engagements with Dutch government leaders, parliamentarians and leading representatives of Dutch companies. The engagements focused on strengthening bilateral economic cooperation, expanding trade and investment, and identifying new opportunities for collaboration between Indian and Dutch enterprises, the ministry said.
Goyal's one-on-one meetings with top executives of several prominent Dutch companies focused on business priorities and potential areas of cooperation. The companies represented a range of sectors, including semiconductor technology, electronics, logistics, energy and industrial solutions, technology, and retail.
Goyal also participated in a roundtable with the top 15 Dutch companies to have direct engagement with business leaders on opportunities for investment, commercial partnerships and deeper economic cooperation between India and the Netherlands. It also provided a forum for exchanging perspectives on the business environment and identifying avenues for stronger private-sector collaboration, the ministry said.
During his interactions, Goyal highlighted the growing momentum in India-Netherlands economic relations, particularly following the elevation of bilateral ties to a Strategic Partnership and the conclusion of the India-EU FTA. "He underscored the significant opportunities for expanding trade, investment and technology partnerships, and emphasised the Netherlands' important role as a gateway to European markets," the ministry said.
India's FTA with the European Union, which concluded in January, is expected to be signed before the end of this year. India-EU total bilateral trade was worth nearly $139 billion in 2025-26 (Apr-Mar). End
