NEW DELHI – Bandhan Bank's loans and advances at the end of Sept. 30 grew at a quicker pace than its deposits, provisional figures released by the bank late Saturday showed. The Kolkata-based bank's loans grew 13.1% on year to INR 1.58 trillion and its deposits grew 9.2% to INR 1.73 trillion.

The bank's current account savings account deposits were 26.71% at the end of September, lower than 29.40% at the end of June and 27.97% at the end of September last year. Liquidity coverage ratio at the end of September was 137.88%, the bank said.

Total loans of scheduled commercial banks in India were up 18.1% as on Sept. 15, while deposits grew 17.3% on year, according to latest data from the Reserve Bank of India. The RBI's special swap window boosted deposit growth by attracting foreign capital, where the central bank bore the hedging cost of three-to-five year foreign-currency non-resident (bank) deposits. The FCNR(B) inflow under the scheme totalled $133 billion between Jun. 8 and Aug. 31.

For the June quarter, the private sector lender has reported a 35% on-year rise in its net profit to INR 5.02 billion on a total income of INR 62.34 billion. At 1021 IST, shares of the bank traded at INR 170.50 on the National Stock Exchange, down 2.8% from the previous close.  End
