MUMBAI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India received 20,000 comments till 1900 IST Saturday in feedback to its Sept. 12 consultation paper proposing changes to closing auction session framework and the equity derivatives settlement price methodology, the market regulator said in a post on its X account @SEBI_updates. Saturday is the last day for public comments on this consultation paper.
Earlier Saturday, speaking to reporters on the sidelines of an event in New Delhi, SEBI Chairman Tuhin Kanta Pandey said the market regulator "will actually quickly look at all... comments and go ahead because I think our proposals are quite clear and we will not have much time to compile those things and analyse those comments." SEBI board approval won't be required to issue a circular on the changes to be effected based on the feedback to the consultation paper, Pandey said.
In its Sept. 12 consultation paper, SEBI had proposed a choice between fixing the settlement price of equity derivatives contracts as the volume weighted average price of the last 30 minutes of a continuous trading session in the cash market and fixing it as a blend of the volume weighted average price and the final equilibrium price of the closing auction session. The choice of having the volume weighted average price-based methodology was, however, restricted to a period of around one year. End
