NEW DELHI – ICICI Life Insurance Ltd. has appointed Sidharatha Mishra as its managing director and chief executive officer for five years, the insurer informed exchanges Friday. The announcement follows Anup Bagchi tendering his resignation from the post as he has been appointed as the managing director and chief executive officer of HDFC Bank Ltd.

 

Mishra has been appointed as managing director, chief executive officer, and additional director, with effect from Oct. 14, or the date of approval by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India, the filing said. He has also been appointed as the company's chief operating officer with effect from Tuesday.

 

Bagchi's appointment at HDFC Bank is effective Oct. 27. In his resignation letter, Bagchi said, "I wish to pursue a new career opportunity outside the organisation," the filing said. Bagchi has been associated with the ICICI Group for more than three decades and held a variety of roles, it added.

 

Wednesday, the Registrar of Companies under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs approved the change in the name of ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Co. Ltd. to ICICI Life Insurance Ltd., effective Tuesday.

 

For the June quarter, the insurer had reported a net profit of INR 3.86 billion on net premium income of INR 97.49 billion. Thursday, shares of the company closed at INR 448.05 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1% from the previous close.  End
