NEW DELHI – The statistics ministry rolled out the third capital expenditure survey Thursday to gather information on private corporate investment activity and future investment intentions. The Forward-Looking Survey on Private Corporate Sector CAPEX Investment Intentions, or CAPEX 2026, will be conducted during Oct-Dec, the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation said in a press release.
With this survey, the statistics ministry aims to improve the quality, relevance, and usability of the information collected as well as to improve the user interface with the portal for submitting information. The CAPEX 2026 survey will collect information on capital expenditure undertaken in recent financial years, provisional capital expenditure in the current financial year, and investment intentions for the next financial year.
"The information covers capital expenditure across different asset groups and industries, along with aspects relating to investment strategy, objectives, sources of financing, etc," the ministry said. "Information on investment intentions and investment strategies, investment in green energy and robotics, information on sources of financing of CAPEX as well as information on the objectives of investment, including capacity expansion/upgradation and other investment purposes" will also be included in the survey.
In this regard, the ministry is seeking that all selected private corporate sector enterprises provide complete, accurate and timely information through the designated web portal, the release said. Enterprises can compile the information themselves and submit it on the web portal, the release said.
According to the findings of the previous survey in March, capital expenditure by private sector Indian companies was expected to remain steady in 2026-27 (Apr-Mar). The intended capital expenditure of private sector companies in FY27 is estimated at INR 6.114 trillion, a tad higher than INR 6.112 trillion in FY26. End
