NEW DELHI – Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal arrived in Wisconsin, US, to attend the G20 trade ministers' meeting, an official release said Wednesday. During the day, Goyal met senior business executives of prominent US manufacturing and technology companies.
At the meeting, Goyal highlighted the evolving India-US economic relationship, which is moving "beyond a traditional trade relationship and increasingly encompasses investment, manufacturing, technology, innovation, resilient supply chains and the creation of high-value capabilities in both countries," the minister said.
India is ready to facilitate companies in their operations, expansion and investments, Goyal said at the meeting with chief executive officers and senior executives of US companies.
Goyal also interacted with his counterparts from other G20 countries. The minister will hold bilateral talks with his US counterpart to finalise the interim trade deal during his visit to the US from Sept. 29 to Oct. 5. "The visit is expected to further strengthen the trade and investment partnership between India and the United States and deepen India's engagement with its G20 partners," the release said.
