Govt issues T-bill calendar for Oct-Dec; to raise INR 2.99 trillion

MUMBAI – The government Friday said it will raise INR 2.99 trillion through Treasury bill auctions in Oct-Dec. Of the total borrowing, the government will raise INR 1.04 trillion each through 91-day and 182-day T-bills and INR 910 billion through 364-day T-bills, according to the Oct-Dec auction calendar released Friday.
Weekly Treasury bill borrowing in Oct-Dec is scheduled at INR 230 billion a week for 13 weeks, according to the release. In the September quarter, the government had raised INR 3.12 trillion via T-bills. The Reserve Bank of India will conduct the last T-bill auction for the Jul-Sept quarter for INR 240 billion on Wednesday.
The government, in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India, will have the flexibility to modify the indicated amount and timing for the auction of Treasury Bills, depending on requirements, evolving market conditions, and other relevant factors, after giving due notice to the market, the release said.
