NEW DELHI – Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. Friday launched its new compact sedan Aeris at an event in Gurgaon. The vehicle is built on X-Alfa acrchitecture of the company, featuring 10.25 inch infotainment screen, integrated dashboard camera, and a 360-degree camera. "This (Aeris) has been created exclusively for personal use," said Shailesh Chandra, managing director and chief executive officer of the company, adding "Aeris has been engineered with the highest safety standard." 

 

Tata Motors PV reported a consolidated net profit of INR 7.75 billion on revenue of INR 957.99 billion for the June quarter. At 1216 IST, shares of the company traded 1.6% lower at INR 290.15 apiece on the National Stock Exchange. 

 

The Tata Aeris is priced between INR 529,000 and INR 919,000, across 10 variants of both fuel types and transmission. The vehicle will be powered by petrol and compressed natural gas engines, available in both manual and automatic transmission. The CNG variant will feature a 70-litre of tank capacity. 

 

The lowest variant for iCNG comes with manual transmission and is priced at INR 629,000, while the lowest petrol variant with manual transmission is priced at INR 529,000. The highest priced variants are INR 819,000 and 919,000 for the petrol and CNG variants, respectively. 

 

The car's automatic variant will also have pedal shifters, "We integrated pedal shifters behind the steering wheel, which retained that functionality," said Anand Kulkarni, chief products officer of the company. The carmaker has provided six airbags in the car as an standard safety feature across all variants. The car will also have a deck to hold two smartphones, with wireless charging enabled on the deck.

 

Tata Aeris will be available in six color options, featuring dandeli drizzle, nitro crimson, dune glow, pure grey, daytona grey, and prstine white. Consumers can book the car starting Friday and the deliveries will begin from Oct. 11, the company said.  End
