MUMBAI – JSW Greentech Ltd., JSW Group's commercial electric vehicle company, Tuesday launched 'Ampstar', the brand under which it will design, manufacture, and sell electric buses and trucks in India. The brand will also house charge infrastructure, operating solutions, financing options, and after-sales support, the company said in a press release.

Ampstar's vehicles will be available in power configurations ranging between 150 kilowatt and 500 kilowatt. These vehicles can be bought at full price, leases, or be bought under a batter-as-a-service contract. 

The company's commercial electric vehicles will be built at its facility in Maharashtra's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, which has annual capacity of 15,000 vehicles. The JSW Group company has developed the base logic, software, and algorithms for the entire electric drivetrain, it said.

Ampstar's electric bus portfolio will span 7-18 metre buses made for diverse uses such as staff transportation, city, intercity, and school mobility. "On the truck side, we are starting with the 55-tonne tractor-trailer — one of the most demanding vehicle architectures with plans to expand into tippers and fixed-body dumpers in the months ahead," JSW Greentech's Chief Executive Officer Sumit Mittal said in a press release.  End
