NEW DELHI – The Securities and Exchange Board of India last week settled a case against Edelweiss Financial Services Ltd.'s defunct commodities broking arm, the listed entity informed exchanges late Tuesday. Comtrade Commodities Services Ltd. has not carried on any business activities since 2019.

The regulator accepted Comtrade's settlement application through the Spot Exchange Limited Settlement Scheme 2025, which included a fine of over INR 600,000 and debarment from proprietary trading or onboarding clients for six months. The broker was among 91 entities whose settlements SEBI accepted under the scheme for original violations that occured under the Forward Contracts (Regulation) Act before 2013. Since the subsidiary is defunct, Edelweiss Financial said the order would have no impact on the financials or operations of the group.
