NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his closing remarks at the 18th BRICS Summit Sunday, said the New Delhi Declaration will give direction to future cooperation. The discussions held over the last two days have assured that BRICS was not just a group of countries but "an ecosystem of solutions", Modi said.

"We hope that the adopted New Delhi Declaration at the summit will give a clear direction to our shared vision and future cooperation," he said while addressing the BRICS leaders. The New Delhi Declaration incorporates the essence of discussions held on global and regional matters and prioritises the robustness of BRICS cooperation.

He urged the BRICS countries to work towards streamlining all the outcomes of the discussions held to "the last mile impact in a timely manner." "Our frameworks should move beyond files and have an impact on real life. We must work towards it," the prime minister said.

India hosted the 18th BRICS Summit Saturday and Sunday on the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability". The BRICS is a group of 11 emerging economics and developing countries--Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

BRICS is entering its third decade, Modi said, adding that the world not only expects ideas and commitments from the group but also "concrete results". "I believe that we will be able to achieve these by joint efforts," he said.

India also passed on the baton to China as the neighbouring country will hold the next chairship of BRICS in 2027. Modi extended his best wishes to China in his closing remarks on the final day of the summit.  End
