NEW DELHI – The BRICS nations have decided on a cooperation portal for small companies to connect with new markets, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on the second day of the 18th BRICS Summit Sunday. The BRICS leaders have also pitched for a startup innovation fund and urban mobility hub, along with other initiatives.

 

"We have promoted skills, employability, social security, women at workforce, and capacity building with the help of BRICS Connect," PM Modi said. "BRICS MSME cooperation portal initiative has been taken to help the small businesses to connect with the knowledge, finance, and new markets,"

 

We have also set up BRICS Urban mobility to share best practices among the cities, PM Modi said at the 18th BRICS Leaders Summit 2026 here. India is hosting the 18th BRICS Summit on the theme "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability". The BRICS is a group of 11 countries--Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, and the United Arab Emirates.

 

 

BRICS Digital Centre of Excellence have also been established for smart grids and energy storage. "This will help make our clean energy systems more reliable, efficient, and accessible," Modi said.

 

The BRICS nations are also aiming for a network on digital agriculture which will create new possibilities for farmers. "Through this, AI (artificial intelligence), geospatial technology, and digital public infrastructure will be connected to the real needs of farmers," he said. Even the centres of excellence in agro-ecology and regenerative agriculture will connect traditional knowledge with modern science. 

 

To provide impetus to innovation and new technologies, BRICS Incubator Network will help startups and incubator connect with each other, PM Modi said. "We have also put forth the idea of BRICS Startup Innovation Fund to promote innovation and scaleable solutions."

 

The prime minister, while addressing the leaders of BRICS nations, said the weaponisation of technology and critical mineral could hinder progress. In this regard, "we have stressed on inclusivity while adopting technology," PM Modi added.

 

India has carried forward the friendship, collaboration, and support through BRICS. "We have made an effort that the BRICS cooperation is not restricted only to the government but even the entrepreneurs, farmers, researchers, women, youth, and general public are equally benefitted from this," Modi said.  End
