MUMBAI – The state-owned India Infrastructure Finance Co. Ltd. plans to raise around $1.30 billion in a span of two to three months through external commercial borrowings and other debt instruments, the company said in an exchange filing Sunday. Furthermore, the company plans to raise an additional $1 billion through overseas borrowings, subject to necessary approvals from the government and other regulatory authorities.
The board of IIFCL has approved an ambitious resource mobilisation programme of INR 342 billion for the financial year 2026-27 (Apr-Mar) to support the growing financing requirements of India's infrastructure sector.
The borrowing plan aligns with recent measures by the Reserve Bank of India, including a concessional dollar-rupee swap facility for eligible external commercial borrowings. The facility is expected to make overseas borrowing more appealing by lowering hedging costs, and thus offer another route to secure competitively priced, long-term funding.
The RBI Monday rolled out its concessional dollar-rupee swap facility for public-sector undertakings' external commercial borrowings and overseas foreign currency borrowings. End
