NEW DELHI – All India Trinamool Congress lawmaker Prakash Chik Baraik resigned from the Rajya Sabha Thursday, the third party MP to quit this week. Baraik submitted his resignation to Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan.
"I do hereby resign from the membership of Rajya Sabha, which may please be accepted with immediate effect," he wrote in his resignation letter.
The turmoil in the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress is deepening with each passing day, ever since the party lost West Bengal Assembly elections last month. On Monday, Rajya Sabha MP and veteran Trinamool leader Sukhendu Sekhar Ray resigned from the Upper House as well from the party on a bitter note. On Wednesday, Trinamool's Sushmita Dev resigned from Rajya Sabha, and later met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, sparking speculations that she may join the Bharatiya Janata Party. End
