Govt extends anti-dumping duty on aluminium foil till Dec 15

MUMBAI – The government has extended the anti-dumping duty on aluminium foil till Dec. 15, according to a notification issued by the finance ministry on Wednesday. The anti-dumpting duty was imposed on aluminium foil imported from China, Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonasia.

 

The Centre first imposed the anti-dumping duty on aluminium foil, which is 80 microns and below, from these countries on Sept. 16, 2021, and it was to be effective for the next five years, that is, till Sept. 26. The government had imposed the duty following the requests of certain companies, which includes Hindalco. 

 

On Sept. 29, 2025, the Directorate General of Trade Remedies initiated a sunset review investigation concerning imports of aluminium foil and whether the anti-dumping duty on the commodity should continue. 

 

The government also extended the countervailing duty on aluminium wire till Mar. 23, 2027. The Centre had first imposed the duty on Sept. 24, 2021, and it was to be effective for five years, that is, till Sept. 24.  End
