NEW DELHI – The government has approved 22 applications under the third round of the production-linked incentive scheme for textiles, the textiles ministry said Wednesday. A total of 96 companies have been selected in the latest round of the scheme, with a total committed investment of INR 128.23 billion and a projected turnover of INR 582.94 billion.
These companies are expected to bring in total investment of INR 23.39 billion, generate a projected turnover of INR 155.61 billion in notified products, and create 36,217 employment opportunities across the textile value chain, the ministry said in a release. The proposed investments and production capacities are expected to support the development of a robust and globally competitive textile ecosystem, the ministry said.
"The approved applicants span key focus segments of the PLI Scheme, including Man-Made Fibre (MMF) Apparel, MMF Fabrics and Technical Textiles, thereby further strengthening India's position as a global hub for value-added textile manufacturing," the ministry said.
The production-linked incentive scheme for textiles was notified on Sept. 24, 2021, with an outlay of INR 106.83 billion to promote the production of man-made fibre apparel and fabrics, and products of technical textiles. End
