Under its influence, very heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Arunchal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya till Sunday, the weather department said. Heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds is expected over most parts of northeast India till Saturday, it said.

Currently, the monsoon trough passes through Harnai and Solapur in Maharashtra, Kalaburagi in Karnataka, Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, and Siliguri in West Bengal, the department said. Conditions are favourable for further movement of the trough over more parts of the Arabian Sea, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, some parts of Chhattisgarh, Odisha, West Bengal, and Jharkhand, and the remaining parts of Tamil Nadu in the next 4-5 days, it said.

The presence of the monsoon trough is also likely to cause very heavy rainfall over parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal till Wednesday, the weather bureau said. Heavy rainfall is also likely over parts of sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha from Thursday to Saturday, and over Bihar from Wednesday to Friday. Thundersqualls with wind speeds reaching 50–60 kilometres per hour and gusting to 70 km per hour are expected over several parts of east India till Friday, while thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also likely over these regions till Monday, the bureau said.

Heavy rainfall is likely to persist over most parts of south peninsular India till Saturday, while very heavy showers are expected over parts of coastal Karnataka till Wednesday, the weather bureau said. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are also likely over these regions till Monday, the bureau said.

In central India, hailstorms are expected over parts of Madhya Pradesh Friday. Thundersqualls are also likely over Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha till Saturday, and over Chhattisgarh Thursday and Friday. In west India, heavy rainfall is expected over parts of Konkan and Goa till Thursday, the weather department said. Thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely over multiple parts of west India till Friday, and over central India till Saturday, it said.

Dust storms are expected over parts of west Rajasthan from Thursday to Saturday, and over east Rajasthan Thursday, the weather bureau said. Thundersqualls, thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds are likely over many parts of northwest India till Monday, it added.

Heatwave conditions are likely over most parts of northwest India till Thursday, the weather bureau said. Hot and humid weather conditions are expected to persist in pockets of Odisha till Thursday and Konkan and Goa till Wednesday, it said.  End
