--RBI re-appoints Swaminathan J as deputy governor for 2 years from Jun 26
MUMBAI – The government has reappointed Swaminathan Janakiraman as a deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India with effect from Jun. 26 for two years or until further orders, whichever is earlier, the central bank said in a release. Swaminathan was appointed deputy governor in June 2023 for three years.
Swaminathan spent 34 years of his career with the State Bank of India. At the central bank, he looks after the consumer education and protection department, department of supervision, financial inclusion and development department, inspection department, premises department, and Rajbhasha department.
Swaminathan is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Bankers, Certified Documentary Credit Specialist, and Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist. He has also completed an executive Master of Business Administration programme from the National Institute of Business Management, Chennai. End
