NEW DELHI – Cipla Ltd. Wednesday said it has launched a first-of-its-kind sputum inflammometry laboratory at its Breathefree Lung Wellness Center in Mumbai, Maharashtra. The laboratory will also support clinician training, respiratory research, and scientific collaboration related to sputum inflammometry in India, the company said in a press release.

Sputum inflammometry is an advanced diagnostic approach that assesses airway inflammation in patients with chronic respiratory conditions such as severe asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and bronchiectasis. By analysing inflammatory cells and biomarkers in sputum samples, it enables more accurate diagnosis, personalised treatment, and better disease monitoring, the company said.

For the March quarter, Cipla reported consolidated net profit of INR 5.55 billion on revenues of INR 65.41 billion. At 0939 IST, shares of the company traded 0.7% lower at INR 1,366 on the National Stock Exchange.   End
