Maruti Suzuki May output up 17% YoY at 230,041 units led by utility vehicles

--Maruti Suzuki May total output 230,041 units vs 195,882 units year ago 

 

MUMBAI – Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.'s total production rose over 17% on year to 230,041 units in May from 195,882 units in the year-ago period. The growth in output last month was mainly due to a sharp rise in output of utility vehicles such as Brezza, Ertiga, and e Vitara, among others.

 

Maruti Suzuki manufactured 98,694 utility vehicles in May, up 25% from 78,873 units a year ago. The company manufactured 18,656 mini cars last month, up 83% on year. The output of compact cars--Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift, WagonR, OEM Model--rose 6% on year to 95,337 units.

 

Maruti Suzuki produced 3,941 units of light commercial vehicles last month, up from 2,416 units a year ago. For the March quarter, Maruti Suzuki had reported a net profit of INR 35.91 billion on a revenue of INR 524.49 billion. Monday, shares of the company closed at INR 12,946 on the National Stock Exchange, down over 1% from Friday.  End
