MUMBAI – The government has lowered the price of domestically produced natural gas for June by nearly 6% to $10.93 per million British thermal units on a gross calorific value basis, the oil ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell said in a notification on Sunday. The price of domestic natural gas was $11.59 per mBtu in May.

The natural gas produced by Oil and Natural Gas Corp. Ltd. and Oil India Ltd. will be subject to a ceiling of $7.00 per mBtu on a gross calorific value basis for June, according to the notification.

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas amended the New Domestic Natural Gas Pricing Guidelines in April 2023 to integrate several recommendations of the Kirit Parikh committee on gas pricing. The revised guidelines mandate domestic natural gas be priced at 10% of the Indian crude oil basket price and announced on the last day of every month for the following month.  End
