MUMBAI – The National Stock Exchange has decided to extend trading hours for the equity derivatives segment by 10 minutes, with the closing time pushed to 1540 IST from 1530 IST earlier, according to a circular by the bourse. The change will take effect from Aug. 3.

However, the timings for the pre-open session in the derivatives segment will remain unchanged. The pre-open session will be between 0900 IST and 0908 IST and the normal market session will continue to open at 0915 IST. The trade modification window will continue to be open till 1615 IST.

The exchange has revised the trading hours to introduce the closing auction session. The functional changes due to the implementation of the timing extension will be available for testing in mock trading sessions, for which the bourse will issue separate circulars, it said.

There will be no change in the existing closing price computation logic of the contracts. "Last half an hour referred for computation of volume weighted average price of trades shall be from 15:10 hrs to 15:40 hrs," it said.

Further, NSE will broadcast a message on the NEAT trading terminal in the equity derivatives segment at the start of the closing auction session when the operating price range for stock futures contracts is revised. All orders that are outside the revised price range shall be cancelled by the exchange as per existing rules, it said.  End
