MUMBAI – After two consecutive quarters of high on-year growth in net profit, Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd.'s net profit for the March quarter fell due to a rise in its finance cost and impairment on financial assets. A steady revenue from operations, however, limited the fall in profit.

The financier's net profit for the March quarter was INR 4.93 billion for the March quarter, down 1.8% on year and 16% sequentially.

IREDA's revenue from operations jumped 14% on year to INR 21.75 billion in the quarter ended Mar. 31. This backed the total income to rise by 14% on year to INR 21.81 billion for the March quarter, up 1.93% sequentially.

The state-owned financier's total expenses were up around 22% on year at INR 15.62 billion. Of this, finance cost was INR 12.41 billion, up 12% on year. The non-banking financial company's impairment on financial instruments surged 66% on year to INR 2.15 billion in the March quarter.

IREDA's gross non-performing assets ratio worsened to 3.49% as of Mar. 31 from 2.45% a year ago and the net non-performing assets ratio deteriorated to 1.29% as of Mar. 31 from 1.35% a year ago. The financier will pay a final dividend of INR 0.75 per share for 2025-26 (Apr-Mar), it said.

The company's net profit for FY26 grew 10% to INR 18.73 billion. Its revenue from operations increased slightly above 23% to INR 83.09 billion. Total income for the same period was at INR 83.37 billion, up 23%. Shares of IREDA, which released it earnings post market hours Friday, ended 2.3% higher at INR 133.25 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
