MUMBAI – The Reserve Bank of India will review directions on interest rates on advances in 2026-27 (Apr-Mar), the central bank said in its annual report for FY26. It will also review directions on credit risk management and market mechanisms for credit risk distribution in the current financial year.     

 

The expected credit loss framework issued by the RBI in April are intended to strengthen the credit risk management practices, improve comparability across regulated entities, and align the regulatory framework with globally accepted financial reporting principle, according to the report. The expected credit loss guidelines provide introduction for staging of a framework for asset classification, adoption of a forward-looking provisiong approach and adoption of an effective interest rate method.  End
