--Govt to exercise oversubscription option to sell 1% of Coal India via OFS 

 

MUMBAI – The government has decided to exercise the oversubscription option to sell an additional 1% stake in Coal India Ltd. through an offer for sale, the state-owned company said in an exchange filing Wednesday. The government had offered to sell up to 2% stake in Coal India through an offer for sale.

 

The offer for sale opened on Wednesday for non-retail investors and will open on Friday for retail investors. The government held 63.13% stake in Coal India at the end of the March quarter. The government's shareholding in Coal India will reduce to 61.13% after the offer for sale. It had set the floor price for the offer for sale at INR 412 per share, which is at a discount of 11% to the stock's closing price on Wednesday. At the floor price, the government will raise around INR 50.78 billion by selling 2% stake in Coal India.

 

For the March quarter, Coal India reported a consolidated net profit of INR 108.39 billion on revenues of INR 464.90 billion. Wednesday, shares of the company closed at INR 463.05 on the National Stock Exchange, up 1.1% from Tuesday.  End
