IMD sees severe heat wave conditions in parts of Punjab, Haryana till Wed

MUMBAI – The India Meteorological Department has forecast severe heat wave conditions in parts of Punjab, Haryana, and Delhi till Wednesday. During the next four to five days, several regions of central and northwest India are likely to experience heat wave conditions, the weather bureau said.
A reduction in maximum temperatures and abatement of heatwave conditions are likely from Friday onwards across central and adjoining northern peninsular India, east and north-west India, except in some parts of Rajasthan, IMD said.
Meanwhile, some parts of northeast India, such as Assam and Meghalaya, are likely to experience extremely heavy rainfall on Monday. Heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh on Tuesday and Wednesday, according to the weather bureau. Similar weather conditions are also likely in parts of South India. Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are likely to receive heavy rainfall till Tuesday, and Kerala and Mahe are likely to receive heavy rainfall till Wednesday, the weather department said. Hailstorm activity is likely over north interior Karnataka on Wednesday, according to IMD. End
