Kevin Warsh sworn in as US Federal Reserve chair at White House

MUMBAI – Kevin Warsh was officially sworn in as the chairman of the US Federal Reserve by Justice Clarence Thomas at the White House on Friday. Warsh succeeds Jerome Powell, whose tenure ended on May 15. Warsh will serve as the US Fed Chair until May 21, 2030, while his term as a member of the board will continue till Jan. 31, 2040. 

 

"The Federal Open Market Committee unanimously selected Warsh as its chairman," the White House said in a press release early Friday. US President Donald Trump had nominated Warsh for the role. He was confirmed by the US Senate as a member of the board on May 12 and as chairman of the Federal Reserve Board on May 13.  End
