NEW DELHI – In a review meeting on Friday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged stakeholders to further strengthen GIFT City's position as a globally competitive international financial and business hub. During the meeting, presentations were made on the progress achieved by GIFT City across sectors including banking, capital markets, fund management, insurance and reinsurance, aircraft and ship leasing, fintech, bullion exchange, international education and allied services.

 

The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, P.K. Mishra, Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat Harsh Sanghavi, Expenditure Secretary V. Vualnam, Economic Affairs Secretary Anuradha Thakur, Revenue Secretary Arvind Shrivastava, Chairman of GIFT City Uday Kotak, and Chairman of International Financial Services Centres Authority K. Rajaraman.

 

Sitharaman said GIFT City is strategically important for deepening India's integration with global financial markets and facilitating international capital flows into the country. She also said that India offers a unique combination of scale, technology, talent and growth opportunities.  End
