India outstanding NRI deposits $165.65 bln in Mar, up $977 mln from yr ago

MUMBAI – Outstanding deposits by non-resident Indians fell to $165.65 billion at the end of March, up $977 million from a year ago, according to provisional data released by the Reserve Bank of India Friday. The outstanding NRI deposits were $167.58 billion at the end of February and $164.68 billion a year ago.
Deposits in non-resident (external) rupee accounts were $98.56 billion at the end of March, down from $99.77 billion at the end of February and $100.73 billion a year ago. Outstanding deposits in foreign currency non-resident (banks) accounts were $33.76 billion at the end of March, slightly higher than $33.72 billion a month earlier. Outstanding FCNR (B) deposits were at $32.81 billion a year ago. End
