Banking secy to Tue discuss expediting PSU banks' pending cases at NCLT

NEW DELHI – Department of Financial Services Secretary M. Nagaraju will chair a review meeting with public-sector banks on Tuesday to monitor the progress made in top insolvency and bankruptcy cases pending for admission and resolution at the National Company Law Tribunal. The meeting will be held to nudge the banks to expedite processes related to the resolution of cases, people aware of the development said. The meeting will be held here from 1500 IST.
"The secretary will take updates on the high-value insolvency and bankruptcy accounts," one of the persons cited above said. Senior officials from the department, top management of public sector banks and the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Board of India will participate in the meeting, the official added.
The last such meeting was held on Mar. 9, when the secretary reviewed the top twenty accounts pending for admission and 10 accounts pending for resolution were undertaken for early expedition of pending cases. During the deliberations, banks were advised to take a collaborative approach in the resolution of pending cases for asset value maximisation, improving recoveries, and ensuring time-bound objectives.
Nagaraju had asked the chief executives of all PSU banks to keep monitoring the top cases pending for admission and resolution. He had also emphasised addressing the procedural inefficiencies for improving recovery outcomes. End
