MUMBAI – Eicher Motors Ltd. Monday said it will buy 215.7 acres in Tada, Andhra Pradesh, for up to INR 25 billion to set up a manufacturing facility. The government of the state has approved the purchase of land and the plan for the proposed capacity addition will be finalised by the company's board at upcoming meetings, the company said in an exchange filing.
The company's total existing capacity is around 1.46 million motorcycle units per annum and it is set to reach 2 million motorcycles per annum on the back of the previously announced INR 9.58-billion brownfield capacity addition project across all plants in Tamil Nadu by the end of the financial year 2027-28 (Apr-Mar). The company said its existing capacity is close to full utilisation and the capacity expansion will be funded through internal accruals.
For the December quarter, on a consolidated basis, Eicher Motors had reported a net profit of INR 14.21 billion on revenues of INR 61.14 billion. Monday, its shares closed at INR 6,913 on the National Stock Exchange, down 1.5% from Friday. End
