MUMBAI – Tata Steel Ltd. Friday said its wholly-owned subsidiary Tata Steel Netherlands received a letter from Netherlands' environment agency and local province on Apr. 23 informing their intention to revoke the subsidiary's operating permits and trigger an early closure of the coke and gas plants. Tata Steel Netherlands proposed to the local authorities a timeline to ensure a controlled closure process.
"However, pending assurance on a feasible timeline, the financial statements of Tata Steel Netherlands (for the March quarter and for the financial year 2025-26) have been prepared taking into account a material uncertainty to going concern in discussion with its auditors," Tata Steel said in a statement on Friday. The steelmaker Friday announced its earnings for the March quarter and FY26.
Tata Steel said its Netherlands subsidiary had received "multiple notices alleging non-compliance" on emissions from its coke and gas factories in FY26 and paid more than 20 million euros in penalties. On Friday, shares of Tata Steel closed nearly 2% lower at INR 216.80 on the National Stock Exchange. End
