MUMBAI – Global index provider MSCI has added shares of Adani Energy Solutions Ltd., Federal Bank Ltd., Indian Bank Ltd., Multi Commodity Exchange Ltd., and National Aluminium Co. Ltd. to its global standard index as part of its May index review. On other hand, shares of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., Jubilant Foodworks Ltd., Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd. and Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd. have been excluded from the index, MSCI announced early Wednesday.
Following the rejig, India's weightage in the MSCI Standard Index will remain steady at 12.3% from 12.4% earlier and 165 Indian companies will remain part of the index. The rebalance will be effective from May. 29, the index provider said.
MSCI also added 14 companies to its global small-cap index and excluded 29. Shares of Aditya Infotech Ltd., Anthem Biosciences Ltd., Anupam Rasayan India Ltd., BlueStone Jewelley and Lifestyle Ltd., Emmvee Photovoltaic Ltd., Escorts Kubota Ltd., Fractal Analytics Ltd., Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Ltd., Jain Resource Recycling Ltd., Jubilant Foodworks Ltd., Kalyan Jewellers India Ltd., Physicswallah Ltd., Pine Labs Ltd., and Tenneco Clean Air India Ltd. were added to the small-cap index.
Among the major companies removed from the MSCI global small-cap index were Federal Bank, National Aluminium Co., Multi Commodity Exchange, Texmaco Rail & Engineering Ltd., Thomas Cook India Ltd., Raymond Lifestyle, Alok Induistries, Bajaj Electricals Ltd., Prism Johnson Ltd., Shree Renuka Sugar Ltd., Surya Roshni Ltd., Sterling and Wilson Renewable Energy Ltd., CE Info Systems, and Electrosteel Castings Ltd.
It also excluded VIP. Industries, Sunteck Realty Ltd., Sharda Motor Industries Ltd., Redtape Ltd., NIIT Learning Systems Ltd., Mahindra Holidays & Resorts India Ltd., IndiGo Paints Ltd., Gulf Oil Lubricants India Ltd., Greenlam Industries Ltd., GMM Pfaudler Ltd., GHCL Ltd., FDC Ltd., Cello World Ltd., and Balu Forge Industries Ltd. from the global small-cap index.
