--CONTEXT: Comments by HDFC AMC CEO Navneet Munot at CII event in Delhi
NEW DELHI – While contribution from domestic investors is on the rise, India surely needs a lot more from foreign portfolio investors, HDFC Asset Management Co. Ltd.'s Chief Executive Officer Navneet Munot said Monday. "I don't think the domestic money is enough, and I don't think we can say that we have reached the stage where we don't need foreign portfolio investors. We surely need," Munot said while speaking at Confederation of Indian Industry's Annual Business Summit 2026.
Munot highlighted a media article terming 2026 as a record selling year by foreign investors in Indian equities but at the same time, also lauded mutual fund systematic investment plan contributions exceeding INR 300 billion for another month in April.
Mutual fund systematic investment plan contributions stood at INR 311.15 billion in April, marginally lower than INR 320.87 billion in March, according to data from the Association of Mutual Funds in India.
Monday, shares of HDFC Asset Management ended 3.7% lower at INR 2,747.20 on the National Stock Exchange. End
