NEW DELHI – The appointments committee of the Cabinet on Friday approved the appointment of Rohit Jain as deputy governor of the Reserve Bank of India. Jain has been appointed for three years, starting Sunday, according to a government circular.
Jain has been an executive director at the RBI since December 2020. He has been overseeing the Department of Supervision and is responsible for planning and undertaking various supervisory processes and procedures.
Jain will replace T. Rabi Sankar, whose portfolio included corporate strategy and budget department, currency management, and external investments and operations. Sankar also looked at information technology, payment and settlement systems, financial markets regulation department and foreign exchange department. In April 2025, the government had extended Sankar's tensure for one year. End
