MUMBAI – The Reserve Bank of India Wednesday proposed permitting non-bank financial companies to open branches without having the need to obtain its prior approval, unless otherwise specifically restricted. The amended norms for the opening of branches by NBFCs will take effect immediately, according to the RBI release.
On Feb. 6, RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra had said some NBFCs will be exempted from the requirement of registration with the RBI. The regulator had proposed exempting NBFCs with no public funds from registration. End
