NEW DELHI – Clearing Corp. of India Ltd. Monday withdrew the volatility margin imposed last week on dollar-rupee forward trades, it said on its website. The clearing house had on Thursday imposed a volatility margin of 20% of the initial margin for dollar-rupee forward trades amid significant volatility in the market under its foreign exchange forward segment regulations. It had said this move would effectively increase the total margin utilisation for the foreign exchange forward segment.

The dollar-rupee forward premiums have been significantly volatile in the last few days following the Reserve Bank of India's latest measures to curb arbitrage and speculative trade in the foreign exchange market. The Indian currency has also been very volatile following the central bank's latest directions. The Indian currency has risen 1.8% against the dollar Thursday, the most since August 2013.  End
