NEW DELHI – The government has extended the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products scheme for six months ending Sept. 30 to support exporters amid the ongoing war in West Asia, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade said in a notification Tuesday.
Under the scheme, the government reimburses the duties and taxes paid by exporters on imported inputs. The government had introduced the scheme in 2021 to replace the Merchandise Exports from India Scheme. The scheme was started with an initial deadline of Sept. 30, 2021, but it has been extended several times since then.
"Eligible exports made during the period from 01.04.2026 to 30.09.2026 shall continue to be entitled to RoDTEP benefit at the rates and value caps in force as on 31.03.2026. subject to the existing terms and conditions of the Scheme," the notification said. The government has allocated INR 100 billion for the scheme in the Union Budget for 2026-27 (Apr-Mar).
The government last week restored rates and value caps under the Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products scheme for all eligible products, removing the 50?p imposed on Feb. 22. This was done to support Indian exporters facing higher freight costs and war-related trade risks arising from disruptions in the West Asia maritime corridor. End
