NEW DELHI – The government will raise INR 2.88 trillion through the auction of Treasury bills in Apr-Jun, it said in a release Friday. Of the total borrowing, the government will sell INR 1.44 trillion of 91-day T-bills and INR 720 billion each of the 182-day and 364-day T-bills.
Weekly borrowing through issuance of Treasury bills in Apr-Jun is scheduled to be INR 240 billion for 12 weeks, the release said. The calendar is usually for 13 weeks but the government will forego an auction next week, with the market shut for three of the five weekdays. It is scheduled to conduct an auction of dated securities on Thursday.
"The Government of India, in consultation with Reserve Bank of India, will have the flexibility to modify the indicated amount and timing for auction of Treasury Bills depending upon the requirements, evolving market conditions and other relevant factors, after giving due notice to the market," the release said.
