MUMBAI – Outstanding deposits by non-residents Indians rose to $165.78 billion as of end January, up $4.56 billion from a year ago, according to provisional data released by the Reserve Bank of India Monday. The outstanding NRI deposits were at $169.27 billion as of January end and $161.21 billion a year ago.
Deposits in non-resident (external) rupee accounts were at $98.93 billion as of end January, down from $100.79 billion a month ago and slightly up from $98.50 billion a year ago. Outstanding deposits in foreign currency non-resident (banks) accounts were at $33.75 billion at the end of January, lower from $34.85 billion a month ago. Outstanding FCNR (B) deposits were at around $32.75 billion a year ago. End
