NEW DELHI – The Centre released INR 1.50 trillion to state governments as loan for capital expenditure in the current financial year, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said Monday. The amount is higher than the government's revised estimate of INR 1.44 trillion for 'Special Assistance as Loan to States for Capital Investment' for 2025-26 (Apr-Mar).

The government also approved INR 1.55 trillion under the flagship scheme, Chaudhary said in written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha. The government has been running the 'Special Assistance as Loan to States for Capital Investment' scheme since FY21 to encourage states towards capital expenditure. The central government has allocated INR 1.85 trillion under the scheme for the next financial year.  End
