--NTPC official: NTPC Green FY26 capacity addition 6 GW, surpasses aim

NEW DELHI – NTPC Ltd.'s subsidiary NTPC Green Energy Ltd. has surpassed its capacity expansion target of 5 gigawatt for 2025-26 (Apr–Mar) by adding 6 GW during the year, a top company official said. 

 

NTPC Green had added 2.6 GW of capacity until December and had planned to add another 2.5 GW in the final quarter of the financial year.

 

"We'll share the details of this 6 GW after Mar. 31," the official told Informist. This marks the first time the company has exceeded its target by such a margin since its 2024 exchange listing. The company had set a target of adding 3.1 GW of capacity in FY25, of which it added nearly 3 GW. 

 

The company has set a target of adding 8 GW of capacity each for FY27 and FY28. NTPC Green's capital expenditure stood at INR 335 billion in the first nine months of FY26, compared with INR 308 billion in the corresponding period last year. NTPC holds an 89% stake in NTPC Green, with the remainder held by the public.

 

The company reported a net profit of INR 175 million for the December quarter on revenues of INR 6.53 billion. Thursday, the company's shares ended 1.1% higher at INR 98.88 on the National Stock Exchange.  End
