NEW DELHI – The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs has approved the construction of four-lane, access-controlled stretch of National Highway-927 between Barabanki and Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh, the government said Wednesday.

The 101.5 kilometre road will be built at a cost of INR 69.69 billion in hybrid annuity mode, which involves 40% government funding and 60% private investment. The land acquisition cost is estimated at INR 15.75 billion.

The access-controlled 4-lane highway with continuous service roads will bypass major habitations across Barabanki and Bahraich districts, increase average travel speed, reduce travel time to about one hour, and improve overall road safety, fuel efficiency, and vehicle operating costs, a government release said.

The stretch will connect National Highway-27, National Highway-330B, and National Highway-730 apart from State Highway-13, and State Highway-30B. In between, the road will connect Ramnagar, Jarwal, Kaisargan, Kundasar, and Fakharpur.

The stretch will ease access to the airports at Lucknow and Sharavasti and touch the railway stations of Barabanki, Rasauli, Jangirabad, Rafinagar, Bindaura, Burhwal, Chowkaghat, Ghaghraghat, Jarwal and Bahraich.

The project will enhance regional mobility and socio-economic development. The upgraded corridor will enhance multi-modal integration with Rupaidiha land port and facilitate faster movement of goods and passengers across the region, it said.

The project will strategically establish a vital cross-border trade and transit corridor between India and Nepal through the Nepalganj border. "It will enhance connectivity to remote districts such as Bahraich and Shravasti, support PM GatiShakti economic and logistics nodes, and stimulate agri-trade, tourism, cross-border commerce, and regional investment," it added.  End
