MUMBAI - The India Meteorological Department has forecast moderate rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kilometres per hour over some parts of Odisha from Saturday to Monday. An upper air cyclonic circulation lies over northwest Odisha and its neighbourhood regions, the weather bureau said.

Some parts of Jammu-Kashmir are also likely to receive moderate rainfall till Thursday, and parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to get moderate rainfall from Saturday to Thursday under the influence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Jammu and adjoining Pakistan in lower tropospheric levels, the weather agency said.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau said maximum temperatures are likely to continue to be above normal by 8-10 degrees Celsius over many parts of Western Himalayan region during next four days and decrease thereafter. Maximum temperatures are likely to be above normal by 5-7 degrees Celsius over plains of northwest during the week, it said.

IMD also has forecast heatwave conditions in parts of Himachal Pradesh till Saturday, in parts of Rajasthan on Monday and Tuesday, over Saurashtra and Kutch till Tuesday and Gujarat region from Sunday to Tuesday. Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail in some pockets of Odisha till Saturday, it said.  End
