CCI OKs Central Bk buying additional stake in Generali Central insurance cos

NEW DELHI – The Competition Commission of India Tuesday said it has approved the acquisition of additional shareholding in Generali Central Insurance Co and Generali Central Life Insurance Co by Central Bank of India from Future Corporate Resources Pvt. Ltd.
Central Bank's equity stake in Generali Central Life Insurance and Generali Central Insurance will rise to 26% each from 25.18% and 24.91%, respectively, once the acquisition is completed, the lender had informed the exchanges in November.
Central Bank had in June bought 25.18% stake in Future Generali India Life Insurance and 24.91% stake in Future Generali India Insurance. In August, Central Bank and the Generali group, which holds the remaining 74% stake in the two insurance companies, announced the rebranded Generali Central Life Insurance and Generali Central Insurance. Shares of Central Bank of India Monday closed 3.3% lower at INR 38.74 on the National Stock Exchange. End
